Entrepreneurism in West Fife

I recently met glass-painter Jacquelyne Davidson who is encouraging other young mothers to follow their creative instincts and take the plunge in setting up their own businesses.

Jacquelyne, mother to six-year-old Christopher-Luke, launched hand-painted glassware business “Jac By Design” in November 2012, after twelve years of glass-painting as a hobby. She sells her glassware online and at the Kilns gift shop in Limekilns, Potter About in Burntisland and Piggy Bank Gifts in Leslie.

Jacquelyne explained that she had met some very talented mums when giving glass-painting demonstrations. In these difficult financial times, returning to work whilst trying to find suitable childcare and flexible working hours can be hard and expensive for mothers.  I would certainly encourage them to think about starting their own home businesses.  Going into business can be a scary prospect but organisations such as “Startup Britain” are available to advise and assist you in getting started.

She is really keen to make a success of “Jac By Design” and is clearly very talented, with great business instincts. I think what Jacquelyne is doing is an excellent way to earn money out of being creative.  I wish her and and all others like her in west Fife every success.
