Sheriff Kathrine Mackie:  an Update from 2013

In preparing Volume 3, “Is This Justice?”, I was very struck by her stated words **, Sheriff Mackie, who presided over my Summary Trial in 2013 – which included the single “Judge, Jury and Executioner”, allowing her sending me to prison for a maximum of 12 months.  Sheriff Mackie definitely said and wrote my “business world and politics” reputation were “in tatters”.  She did take copious notes when I was speaking in Court but failed to record my professional life at all.

She retired in April 2018.  Do not confuse with the Sheriff David Mackie who is the resident Sheriff of Alloa Sheriff Court in Clackmannanshire and retired in 2019.  David Mackie, is a “different kettle of fish” – anecdotically according to my judicial sources.  They have been married for many years.

Sheriff Kathrine Mackie then recorded correctly in her “Stated Case” (as part of my Appeal process) that I had played a part in the “business world and politics” but that my reputation was now “in tatters”.  Re “business”, I was a pioneer of diagnostic medical scanning as an electronic engineer in 1960s and into the 1980s.  Readers may recall the designs from Volume 1.  As such, I wrote several several scientific papers and patent-award earning designs, including in radio-isotope whole-body scanners, PET-scanners, CT-scanners and ultrasound scanners.  This started while based in Edinburgh for a few years and then I emigrated in 1966 to Chicago, Cleveland, Paris and finally relocating back to Scotland.  Patents have been granted in the USA, Canada, UK, France etc.  They have been incorporated in such fundamental designs worldwide.

She ended this paragraph by properly recording the Defence case in Court that: “The offences [as convicted] were old, all prior to 1995.  He was now a different man from that described in Court”.  I would extend that.  I was never the man alleged in Court. 

I do hope that, in retirement from April 2018, Mrs Kathrine Mackie and her husband, David, have benefitted – as I had to – from the “tatters” of my international business career in my pioneering design contributions with medical scanning from my formative years in such healthcare diagnostic equipment.  I only entered representative politics when I retired at 65 years of age at 2007.
