Natalie Hopes to be Guyana Bound

Recently, Bill met Dunfermline High School 6th year pupil Natalie Thoirs, to congratulate her on being selected by Project Trust to spend a year from next summer in Guyana, South America, teaching maths and science where there is a severe lack of teachers in these subjects.

Bill said: “It is great to see people like Natalie spending the now common ‘gap year’ doing something useful in the world. Although we have many problems in Scotland it is good to see young people like Natalie volunteering to help other people even worse off than us.
“While there, Natalie also hopes to volunteer in medical centres as she would like to go on to study Neuroscience at University on her return to Scotland.
“To help fund this project she needs to raise £5,100 but has already managed to raise over £2,000 by holding bake sales, car boot sales and receiving donations from charities. Natalie is currently holding a raffle with the 1st prize being an IPad2 which will help her get closer to her target”.
