Commercial Primary School Earns Eco-Schools Green Flag
Commercial Primary School in Dunfermline has recently become the 1400th school in Scotland to be awarded the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag.
Local SNP MSP Bill Walker welcomed the news and added that assessors were “extremely impressed” with the school.
He said: “Well done to Head Teacher Gillian Mann and her staff, and of course to all the pupils who worked so hard to achieve environmental excellence for their school.
“The Eco-Schools education programme does a great job of educating pupils about climate change. It encourages them to think about how they and their schools can contribute to Scotland’s environmental sustainability.
“The young people at Commercial Primary School have set an admirable example, and I hope their environmental awareness is something they hold onto and build upon.”
Eco-Schools is the flagship education programme of Keep Scotland Beautiful. 98 per cent of Scotland’s local authority schools are now registered on the programme, while 66 per cent have achieved the Silver Award. Over 40 per cent are now flying the Green Flag.
