Nicola Sturgeon Replies for the Lassies at Dunfermline SNP Burns Night

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon gave a rousing ‘Reply for the Lassies’ when she celebrated Burns Night last Friday in Crossford, Fife. She joined around 100 guests for the event in the Keavil House Hotel, which was organised by Dunfermline SNP and chaired by MSP Bill Walker.
Ms Sturgeon had the audience in gales of laughter with her reply to a tongue-in-cheek ‘Toast tae the Lassies’ by Council candidate for West Fife and Coastal Villages, Len Woods.
Afterwards, she said: “Last night was great, and I thank Dunfermline SNP for inviting me to ‘Reply for the Lassies’. Fortunately, I was just about able to match Len Woods’ ‘Toast tae the Lassies’!”
Mr Walker added: “This Burns Night was a wonderful celebration of our national bard.  We had a terrific selection of participants to do justice to Burns’ life and poetry, who kept the audience entertained.
“Thanks especially to Len Woods and The Travelling People for providing the music, piper Brian Kelly, Ken Dow for his vivid if slightly alarming address to the haggis, Bill Lamond for the Immortal Memory and for a highly enjoyable Holy Willie’s prayer, and of course to Nicola, who was a wonderful sport despite suffering from a heavy cold.”
He concluded: “The night was a great success and sets the bar that bit higher for the next event to be organised by Dunfermline SNP!”
