Dunfermline Woman Appointed Corporate Social Responsibility Chairman

Samantha Barber, of Dunfermline, has been appointed chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of Scottish Power’s parent company, Iberdrola — which is responsible for improving social policies and community relations.

Ms Barber, who was appointed to Scottish Power’s Advisory Board in 2007, has previously served as a Policy Advisor at the European Parliament in Brussels, as Director of Business for Scotland and as Chief Executive of Scottish Business in the Community.

Dunfermline MSP Bill Walker welcomed her appointment: “Congratulations to Samantha Barber on achieving this high office in Iberdrola.

“Not only is Ms Barber from our City and Royal Burgh of Dunfermline but, of course, here in West Fife we have one of Iberdrola’s biggest operations – Scottish Power’s Longannet Power Station.

“I know from my time as a Fife Councillor and member of the Power Station Liaison Committee that Scottish Power does take its local community and environmental responsibilities very seriously.  It’s not just common sense but good business sense as well, as seems to be confirmed by Ms Barber’s senior appointment.  I wish her all success in her new role.”

Ms Barber also serves as an advisory board member for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and sits on the 2020 Group on Climate Change. She holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Applied Foreign Languages and European Politics, a UV de DEUG in Applied Foreign Languages and Business, and a Postgraduate in EC Law.
