Building Technologies Showcase 2012 Comes to Dunfermline

A showcase event exploring the commercial possibilities of new building technologies takes place on the 30th May at the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline.

Building Technologies Showcase 2012 will be hosted by the Fife Construction Forum and Napier University’s Low Carbon Building Technologies Gateway, who hope to draw on the success of last year’s first-ever Showcase.

Dunfermline MSP Bill Walker said: “I am very pleased that this exciting event will return to Dunfermline later this month.

“Last year, I was proud to officially open the Sustainable Technology Centre in Carnegie College. Building Technologies Showcase 2012 will help to build on the training work already being carried out in the Sustainable Technology Centre — work that I was pleased to see for myself on a recent follow-up.  I sincerely hope Showcase 2012 goes very well.”

Speakers at the Showcase Event will include Bill Dodds, Head of Building Standards, Prof. Sean Smith from Edinburgh Napier University and Darren McCann, Development & Innovation Manager from CCG.

Themed morning sessions will cover the importance of well-insulated and well-ventilated buildings, discuss renewables and the different approaches to energy efficiency, and provide an overview of legislative and regulatory changes.

In the afternoon, delegates can take part in discussion workshops and talk to exhibitors in more detail. They will have the option to visit the nearby Housing Innovation Showcase 2012 site, which will be looking at the use of ten different building systems for 27 standard Kingdom Housing units in Dunfermline.
