Saline Show Gets Visitor From Down Under!
03/09/2012
The “Saline Show”, more fully known as the Saline & District Horticultural & Handcraft Society Show, took place this weekend in Saline Community Centre.
Society President, Mr Gareth Turner, along with Show Manager, Mr John Crane, and their many Society colleagues and helpers organised a show worthy of the long heritage of the event, which first took place in 1905.
One happy visitor travelled all the way from Perth, Australia. Though she did not make the journey entirely for the show, Mrs Margaret Brown was delighted to accept an invitation from sister, Mrs June Walker, and Dunfermline MSP, Mr Bill Walker.
Mrs Brown said: “It’s very impressive that the Show exhibitors managed such magnificent displays of flowers, vegetables and fruit, especially given the atrocious summer I believe you have had here. They have done a wonderful job.”
Mr Walker agreed: “It’s a real tribute to the dedication, skill and hard work of the Saline villages that we’ve seen such a large number of superb entries. My own efforts at home look pretty puny by comparison!
“Another pleasing aspect of the show was the number of handcraft exhibits from younger people.
“Long may this outstanding Show continue!”
