£170,000 funds raised for Carnock children’s park

Dunfermline MSP Bill Walker has praised the efforts of Carnock villagers who raised £170,000 for a children’s park.
The existing facility located between Carneil Road and Main Street will be upgraded to include a toddlers’ and junior area, dynamic zone, exercise area and winter sledging slope.
Mr Walker, whose constituency includes Carnock, said: “I’m delighted to see the efforts of the community fund-raising group now paying off. They’ve managed to raise an extremely impressive sum.
“This is great news for local children and parents, who badly needed a new park as the existing one has fallen into disrepair.
“I know that local fundraiser Clare Kerr has spent a couple of years on this project and has worked really hard to make the new play-park happen. I think she’s done a great job, along with everyone who contributed to make the park a reality.
“As well as hosting various community fundraising events, the group also received funding from LEADER and the Fife Environmental Trust. I would advise any other local group with community-orientated projects to find out about funding options available through various bodies and initiatives, such as LEADER.”
