26/07/2013
Dunfermline MSP Bill Walker has expressed his condolences following the death of long-standing Dunfermline councillor Mike Rumney.
Labour councillor Mr Rumney, who latterly represented Dunfermline South, served the local area since 1995. He was also currently Chairman of the City of Dunfermline Area Committee.
Mr Walker said: “Mike was very hardworking and someone I found pleasant and straightforward to deal with.
“As well as serving together in Fife Council’s Environment, Enterprise and Transport Committee, I also worked with Mike on FETA, the operator of the Forth Road Bridge.
“Mike continued to represent his constituents throughout his illness and was an extremely conscientious and determined councillor. I’m very saddened to learn that he has passed away and my thoughts are with his wife and family.”
