Referendum Consultation

Last week before the world’s media in Edinburgh Castle, Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Salmond, detailed the Scottish Government’s proposals for the Independence Referendum. He invited the people of Scotland to take part in the Consultation process.

The Consultation is the first step in the biggest constitutional decision Scotland has made in 300 years: whether to say yes to becoming again an independent country making our own decisions.

It will come as no surprise to you that, as an SNP MSP, I believe the Referendum should be made in Scotland, by the people of Scotland, and not with Westminster strings attached.

The Scottish Government wants your views on whether indeed the Referendum should be shaped in Scotland or London, as well as on such matters as the timing of the Referendum and on voter eligibility.

The Consultation closes on 11th May 2012. Whatever your views, I would urge you to make them heard. You can find further information and the Consultation at http://www.scotreferendum.com/.
