Abbeyview Project
02/02/2012
I am following the progress of an innovative new training, advice and support service now running in Abbeyview, which aims to help local people into work. The Abbeyview Project located in Allan Crescent will establish an Information and Recreation Centre for the community, particularly aimed at young people.
Staff will assist with CVs, application forms and interview skills, and the Centre will provide stationery, stamps and newspapers, as well as twice-weekly visits by Carnegie College to deliver educational skills.
Jackie Walls, the Centre Manager, has worked tirelessly on this project, and I was delighted to see her dedication supported in the form of a £10,000 Big Lottery Fund grant for the Abbeyview Project.
The Project’s ultimate aim is to help people recognise their potential and achieve their goals. This is commendable and comes at a time when Scotland and Dunfermline are attracting many new companies, which bring jobs and opportunities for young people.
I was very pleased to formally open the Centre a couple of weeks ago and learn of its progress.
