24/02/2012
Dunfermline-based design consultancy, Supply Design Limited, has received a £30,000 Shell Springboard award to develop an innovative, high-efficiency power-conversion technology.
The award is part of Shell’s Social Investment program, aimed at supporting Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) to progress with commercially viable business ideas that help reduce carbon emissions.
Local SNP MSP Bill Walker, who is also a Chartered Engineer, welcomed the news:
“It’s always great to hear of Dunfermline and Fife businesses being encouraged to develop their ideas, especially SMEs in these difficult economic times. It’s particularly welcome when these ideas are aimed at tackling climate change, something that affects all of us.
“The Scottish Government has pledged to dramatically reduce Scotland’s carbon emissions, and this opens up exciting market opportunities for innovators like Supply Design.
“Scotland has a celebrated heritage of innovation—that’s why we’re leading the way in tackling climate change. I applaud the efforts of Supply Design and other such companies in helping achieve Scotland’s low-carbon economy.”
The Shell Springboard award will enable Supply Design to employ another engineer and double their business development capacity. The company will now be able to build its product and target high energy-consuming markets.
