Cairneyhill Youth Jazz Orchestra Award

Young jazz enthusiasts from Cairneyhill have secured a grant to attend the Islay Jazz Festival to deliver a workshop for local children. The tutoring will be delivered by recently qualified instructors from the Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra (FYJO), after the group received an Awards for All grant of £1450.

MSP Bill Walker, whose Dunfermline constituency encompasses Cairneyhill, has welcomed the award:

“This is excellent news for the Orchestra, and I hope they enjoy the festival workshop. It’s great to see young people participating in music and encouraging others to do the same.

“I would encourage other local groups to apply for funding when they are trying to finance not-for-profit community projects.

“Awards for All can make grants of £500 to £10,000 for people who want to participate in the arts, heritage, sport and community activities, and for community projects related to education, the environment and health.”
