Dunfermline business networking groups make a festive toast to the year ahead

Invchristmasparty4As 2012 draws to a close, Dunfermline MSP Bill Walker has spoken of an encouraging strengthening of Dunfermline’s business community.

Mr Walker said: “We’ve seen the launch of several businesses in Dunfermline over the last year or so, including in the hospitality and retail sectors, and we’ve also seen encouraging efforts to strengthen links between smaller businesses to help them thrive.

“In October, I met Tim Thomson of the Vine Venue and InVite Business Networking, who holds regular meetings to encourage networking among local small businesses. I think Tim is doing a great job, so I was delighted to hear today of InVite’s successful joint Christmas night with Dunfermline Talks Business.”

The two business networking groups came together last Thursday for a “Christmas Extravaganza and Joint Venture” at Grill 48 in East Port, Dunfermline.

Tim Thomson, Centre Manager of the Vine Venue, said:

“The evening was more relaxed than the usual business networking, and business cards may have been passed out, but there was more a sound of laughter and crackers being pulled than business talk.

“A quiz was run with prizes donated by local business and a first, second and third winner presented.

“First place was Richard Watson form Rapier Systems, second place were Dawn and Chris Hinton from Chris Hinton Computing, and third prize went to Caroline Winn from Shrinking Thinking. Well done guys.

“The evening just goes to show there is optimism in the business community for the future and that small business can work together and become stronger.

“InVite Business Networking and Dunfermline Talks Business would like to wish all the local business that attend a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year, and lets move onto greater things next year.”
