£249,210 funding for Gillespie Church

Big Lottery FundDunfermline Gillespie Memorial Church has received a grant of almost a quarter of a million pounds to develop its Community Hub Project.

The £249,210 Community Spaces Scotland award from the Big Lottery Fund will enable the church to undertake energy efficiency measures and internal refurbishment. On completion, the facilities will provide a cafe, meeting rooms, touchdown work space and a training facility.

Bill Walker, MSP for Dunfermline, said: “Congratulations to the Gillespie Memorial Church on this very substantial grant for their Community Hub Project. The church plays an active role in community life, and this grant will enable them to increase their variety of activities, along with the volume of visitors attending this very central meeting place.

“I would encourage other local groups to find out if their community-orientated projects are also eligible for Big Lottery Funding.”

The Community Spaces Scotland scheme aims to bring communities together around a space or place that matters to them. It encourages those spaces and places to be better used, and the people in the communities to become healthier, happier and more active.
