Funding for community garden workshops and cookery classes in Kincardine

Big Lottery FundKincardine Community Association has secured £9,800 Big Lottery funding for a community garden and cookery workshop project.

The grant, from the Communities and Families Fund, will pay for six months of “growing workshops” aimed at encouraging parents and children to grow their own food in a family-friendly community garden. The group will also hold 56 cookery classes for parents and children to create healthy home-cooked meals.

Abbeyview Kids Club funding

Big Lottery FundAbbeyview Kids Club in Dunfermline has received funding to replace play equipment and provide a wider range of activities for children of various ages.

The £1,402 Awards for All grant from the Big Lottery Fund will pay for a brick block construction set, archery game, pool table, Lego friends and Ninjago, and table-top games.

£114K Big Lottery award for Fife charity Furniture Plus

Gail Jackson, Furniture PlusMSP for Dunfermline Bill Walker has congratulated Fife charity Furniture Plus on receiving £114,057 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Support and Connect scheme. The award will enable the charity to expand their service to beneficiaries experiencing furniture poverty but who do not qualify for local authority support.

Mr Walker, who enjoyed a tour of the charity’s Dunfermline Pitreavie showroom in May, said: “Furniture Plus offers an invaluable service to Dunfermline and the wider Fife community. Fife children’s charity receives Awards for All funding

Big Lottery FundCSNIPs (Children with Special Needs in Pre-School), based in Comrie, Fife, has received £8,740 from the Big Lottery Fund. The charity enables and supports the inclusion in safe and satisfying pre-school play of Fife children with additional support needs.

Bill Walker, MSP for Dunfermline, welcomed the news: “I’m very happy CSNIPs has secured such a substantial Awards for All grant from the Big Lottery.

“The charity fulfils an important role in helping pre-school children in Fife who require additional support. £7,500 Dunfermline Carnegie Hockey Club funding

Dunfermline Reign Basketball Club receives Lottery funding

Big Lottery FundDunfermline Reign Basketball Club has received a £1,837 award from the Big Lottery Fund’s 2014 Communities programme.

The Reign, home of Fife’s only national and local league basketball team, provides basketball development for youths and adults in the Dunfermline area. They will use the award to organise five competition evenings for four high school teams from Dunfermline.

Congratulations to Pittencrieff Primary School

That the Parliament congratulates the parent teacher association (PTA) of Pittencrieff Primary School in Dunfermline on receiving a £10,000 award from the Big Lottery Communities and Family Fund; understands that the award, which is the maximum that can be granted, will be used to purchase play equipment for the school and nursery complex and will help volunteers maintain a garden that is open to the community in the evenings and at weekends, and believes that the PTA plays an important role in improving the early learning, health and wellbeing of the children.

Pittencrieff Primary on Lottery funding

Big Lottery FundThe Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Pittencrieff Primary School in Dunfermline has received a £10,000 award after applying to the Big Lottery Communities and Family Fund.

Central Dunfermline Community Council Awards for All grant

Big Lottery FundCentral Dunfermline Community Council have received a £6,800 Awards for All grant from the Big Lottery Fund for their proposal to carry out a public consultation exercise to improve Dunfermline Public Park.

The money will fund the workshops and other provisions necessary to draft and finalise their plan of action.  Furthermore, they hope to achieve the creation of a climate change proof management plan. Read more of this post

Complementary therapy cancer charity awarded Big Lottery funding

Big Lottery FundCircle of Comfort has received a £9,990 Awards for All grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

The award will help the Dunfermline-based charity to provide complementary therapies to diagnosed cancer patients, either in their own home or in hospital.  The charity offers therapeutic massage, aromatherapy and reflexology, conducted by fully qualified therapists, free of charge. Big Lottery FundSaline Environmental Group is to receive £90,000 funding from a total of almost £5m granted across Scotland through the Big Lottery Fund’s Community Spaces Scotland scheme.

The grant will be used to construct a pathway between the west Fife village of Saline and Kinneddar Park, along with a bridge and fitness equipment en route. The aim is to encourage local people to have a greater interest in their environment.

Duloch Juniors Big Lottery award

Dunfermline-based Duloch Juniors Football Club has received £1,345 to encourage children to participate in training sessions and league matches. The Big Lottery Fund award will purchase goals, cones and football strips.

Woodmill High School awarded hockey club grant

Big Lottery FundWoodmill High School in Dunfermline has received £2,000 from the Big Lottery Fund’s 2014 Communities programme to develop a new extra-curricular hockey club. The project meets the 2014 Communities outcome of “more people take part in sport or physical activity”.

Dunfermline’s Link Church granted £10,000 Lottery award

Big Lottery FundThe Link Christian Fellowship in Dunfermline’s Priory Lane has received a £10,000 Awards for All grant from the Big Lottery Fund. The church will use the award to improve community access to their hall with the installation of disabled facilities.

Local MSP Bill Walker said: “Congratulations to Mrs Maureen Altman of the Link Christian Fellowship Church. This award will ensure their hall is accessible for the congregation and for local community groups who use the premises.

“The Link Church does a lot of good work out in the community and abroad, for example with their street pastors and the Zimbabwe sponsorship scheme. They also have a stated ambition of developing their hall as a busy community hub for diverse groups, where people can find support and learn skills. A riding group that provides tuition for children and adults with learning difficulties and physical disabilities has received £10,000 to improve their riding arena at Shiresmill, near Dunfermline.

Big Lottery Olympics Funding for Local Schools

Pupils from four West Fife primary schools have taken part in a cluster Olympic Games, after securing grants from the Big Lottery Fund that enabled them to deliver training sessions.

Maclean, Culross, Townhill and Crossford Primary Schools each delivered activities such as athletics, badminton, football, hockey, basketball, gymnastics, netball and tennis. The funding also went towards items such as t-shirts, flags, gazebos and sports equipment. Read more of this post
