Oakley holiday scheme receives £8,773 Coalfields grant

Coalfields Regeneration TrustOakley Centre Management Committee has received £8,773 from the Coalfields Community Investment Programme to extend an existing holiday play scheme.

The scheme will give 24 local young people the chance to participate in supervised activities such as sports, photography, gardening, crafts, indoor games and music.

Dunfermline MSP Bill Walker, whose constituency includes Oakley, said:

“I’m delighted Oakley has received this funding and that young people will have the chance to develop a well-chosen range of interesting and valuable skills, while at the same time enjoying themselves within their community.

“It’s always good when youngsters can have creative fun and learn from it. I very much look forward to visiting the existing scheme again when it opens.”

The Community Investment Programme aims to help regenerate former coal mining communities by supporting new ideas aimed at improving social cohesion, regeneration and community enterprise. The funding received in Oakley will enable the Oakley Centre Management Committee to increase an existing play scheme a further 30 days spread between the summer, Easter and the October holidays.
