Forth Replacement Crossing

Over the holidays, a report by Audit Scotland suggested tolls might need to be reintroduced on the Forth Road Bridge.

I can confirm that the SNP Government has no plans, intentions or ‘blue sky’ thinking about reintroducing the tolls it famously scrapped in 2008.  This is as much the case for the Forth Replacement Crossing as for the existing Bridge. Read more of this post

I would encourage community groups seeking funding to consider applying to Awards for All Scotland. This body awards grants of between £500 and £10,000 for art, sport, heritage and community activities and for projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community. Carnegie Leisure Centre

Another eagerly awaited facility has now opened, the refurbished Carnegie Leisure Centre. I enjoyed a sneak preview prior to the doors opening last Saturday.  The facility is like a Tardis, seemingly larger on the inside. It boasts state-of-the-art equipment, but I am pleased to say it preserves the original Edwardian features of 1905, when Andrew Carnegie, our great local philanthropist, presented it to the community.
